Senior officers inspect Polo Ground kiosk, urge citizens to use 1930 helpline and Cyber Help Desks

Public Newz Asansol: On the occasion of Rath Yatra, the Asansol-Durgapur Police Commissionerate launched a special cyber awareness campaign to educate people about the growing threat of cybercrime. Additional Commissioner of Police (Cyber) and Headquarters Officer Rahul Pandey, along with ACP (EB) & Headquarters Cyber MD Haroon, visited the Cyber Awareness Kiosk at Polo Ground and interacted with devotees, sharing important cyber safety tips.
Rahul Pandey said that with increasing dependence on the internet and digital services, cyber fraud has become a major challenge. Keeping the large Rath Yatra crowds in mind, the Commissionerate has set up nine Cyber Awareness Booths at key locations to educate people about different types of online scams, safe digital practices, and the procedure for reporting cyber crimes.
He advised citizens to immediately report any cyber fraud by calling the National Cyber Helpline 1930 or by approaching the nearest Police Cyber Help Desk. He also urged people not to share OTPs, banking details, or personal information with strangers, avoid downloading unverified apps, and stay away from fake loan, investment, and attractive online offers.
The police said the initiative aims to ensure that devotees visiting the Rath Yatra not only receive the blessings of Lord Jagannath but also return with greater awareness of cyber safety, helping them stay protected from digital fraud.
